SOLD!! The Cleanest 1969 GTO Judge Around

Yup, it's gone. Gearhead Garage sold it's baby, a car we restored from the ground up, an original and oh-so-clean-1969 Convertible GTO Judge.

This show stopping goat was restored to its original condition and according to the Pontiac Historical Society, remains to be the only Judge convertible in existance with this color combo.

For pics and more detail click here.

We're sad to see it go, but thrilled that such a nice car will be enjoyed! If you have a car you'd like to sell through Gearhead Garage call us today and we'll make it happen!

1973 Javelin back at Gearhead Garage!

Well, the ’73 AMC Javelin project we’re restoring just came back from sandblasting- American Stripping did a phenomenal job! ALL of the exterior, door jambs, trunk & engine bay have completely stripped and primed. The entire underside of the car is FINALLY free of 35+ years of nasty grease & grime.

The original engine has been freshly rebuilt: a balanced rotating assembly w/ forged pistons, ARP rod bolts and a slightly oversized cam will be set into the otherwise stock Javelin (dual exhaust, disc brakes an alarm system, and of course a stereo will likely be the only other deviations from all stock build plan). The transmission and driveline are also completely rebuilt and ready to roll.

At this point, we are busy ordering parts to keep things moving along. The AMC will undergo major bodywork & paint, the chrome has all been sent out to be redone, and all of the factory stainless is getting polished @ Britex.

We’ll keep you posted………

1968 Camaro SS almost back from paint!

After a WHOLE lot of work, Dan Brown is almost done painting a spectacular ’68 SS Camaro for us! (2) new fenders, (2) new quarter panels and a new rear panel later, this healthy ’68 is in the spray booth getting the final coats.

After extensive bodywork, the car was jambed with the fenders, doors, trunk lid & hood off of the car. Then the panels themselves were all hit with a few coats of red base. After refitting all of the panels, checking & adjusting all the gaps, and inspecting all of the body lines, the car is block sanded one more time, and sent into the booth for final paint! 1 or 2 pics show the car with red stripes- this is actually just the red base showing through the masking pattern, the stripes are actually white. Once the white stripes are based in, they get wet-sanded and the whole car gets multiple coats of clearcoat to seal in both colors……

Stay tuned for some flashier photos of the paint job!

CRAZY Rare Car Collection!

This took the cake. When visiting Chicago, I was priviledged to be invited to a family friend's home with one hell of a car collection.

This private collection consisted of some of the nicest cars that most any of us will ever see. Although there were no Fords there this time, American muscle cars were heavily represented.

**Multiple (3) GSS Darts with 440's, ala Mr Norm and Grand Spaulding Dodge.
**Other ultra rare Mopars including a 440 RT Challenger, a 440 RT Roadrunner and a Hemi Challenger with 500 original miles .
**A 1967 Bill Thomas Race Cars Camaro (likely the owner's favorite) with original Mickey Thompson headers prototyped f rom this car, a blue 1967 Nickey 427 Camaro (for those that aren't in the know--a Nickey is the equivalent of a Yenko but from Chicago), an 11 second small block powered Nickey 1968 Chevelle, a pair of 1969 Nickey Vettes, a 427 Nickey Chevelle and of course a quinessential LS6, numbers matching Chevelle.
**Rounding out the collection, was the original Arnie Beswick 1968 GTO Drag Car, a super-clean W-30 Olds Cutlass and a GS Stage One Skylark Convertible.

And those weren't the only cars! Plus the "barn" was fully decked out in original Route 66 memorabilia, rare lithographs and original muscle car art. Not a tool, used part or drop of oil in site. Pretty awesome for a car guy!

Good Guys Show Follow Up- Pleasanton, CA

Gearhead had another great show this weekend. The Gearhead cars there were the red 68 Camaro RS/SS Conv't, the black 69 Camaro RS Conv't, the red 71 Chevelle SS conv't, the 2-tone 67 Pro Touring Camaro, the blue 67 Pro Touring Camaro (Sledgehammer) & the blue 62 Nova SS conv't.

The show had all of ususal categories as far as Show n' Shine, Car Corral and Swap Meet but this time also featured an Auto Cross track--this was pure heaven for us Pro Touring guys. Here is video a friend created showing some of cars and some of the racing.

And by the way, our black 69 Camaro RS conv't took 1st place in it's 2nd show in as many weeks (other show was the Thunder in Depot Park) ... But we're not bragging.
